Type of Election: Non-Partisan
Regular Council Meetings are held: Fourth Tuesday of each month at City Hall
In order to vote in the next election, you must register with Charleston County 30 days prior to the election. You will need to show proof of residency when you apply. Please visit www.scvotes.org for additional information or call (843) 727-6477.
Another option is for you to register at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) but I would call in advance as policies change frequently: (843) 884-9760.
Department of Motor Vehicles
If you are a new resident in South Carolina, you must apply for a South Carolina drivers license. If you own a vehicle(s) it must also be registered in South Carolina.
If you have a valid driver’s license issued by the state from which you moved, you can use it for 90 days. After 90 days, you must surrender it and obtain a South Carolina driver license. You have 45 days to transfer your out of state vehicle registration to South Carolina.
