Folly Beach is blessed with such an amazing environment.
The beach, marsh and river allow both visitors and residents
the opportunity to swim, fish, boat, and sun bathe while
enjoying the natural scenery of the lowcountry.
Beach: There are more than 6 miles of coastal shoreline for
all to enjoy. The beach can be accessed via public beach
access ways that are at the end of each block. A wheelchair
ramp can be found at West Ashley and 9th Street.
Folly Beach Pier: Extending 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean,
the 25 feet wide Edwin S. Taylor Pier is a wonderful place
to fish, walk, bird watch and enjoy the spectacular views.
A gift and tackle shop, restaurant, and 1400 square foot
covered sheltered can also be found on the pier. Fishing

Folly Beach Parks: Folly River Park (located off of Center
Street near the entrance to Folly Beach) Pirate Cove Playground
(East Erie Street)
Folly Beach County Park (located on the west end of Folly
Beach): During the summer months there are lifeguards on
duty in designated swimming areas. The park is surrounded

According to the Post and Courier (9/4/08), Major Carl
Beckmann hopes to create 8 to 12 small community parks
throughout the island in the near future. The parks will
feature benches, picnic tables and a select few will

Folly Beach Surfing: Located on the eastern end of the
island is the "Washout" area. This site is considered
one of the best places to surf in the Charleston region.
Surf board rentals are an option as well as lessons
(843-588-9175).
There is a public boat landing located off of Center Street

Folly Beach Deep-Sea Fishing: The world famous
blackfish banks off Charleston Harbor are accessible
for deep-sea enthusiasts via charter and head boats.
The Gulf Stream is approximately 60 miles off the coast.
